This collection was created with 23 Skidoo, the Flatiron Building 1960 American tall tale, in mind along with inspiration from the era’s colloquial slang and iconic mementos.
The Flatiron Building is a triangular 22-story steel-framed landmarked building located at 175 Fifth Avenue in the borough of Manhattan, New York City. The building sits on a triangular block, the name “Flatiron” derives from its resemblance to a cast-iron. Fun Fact: New Yorkers were relatively unfamiliar with steel cage construction when the Flatiron was built. The thinness of the building also added to the public’s trepidation, and there was a fear that the building could topple over.
The WORLD Flatiron Skirt is a full length miniature pleat lace skirt with a detailed elasticated waistband.
