Nell is one of Australia’s leading contemporary artists. Her practice traverses performance, sculpture, music and painting, uniquely fusing religious iconography with a rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic.
Mother of the Dry Tree (2017) is currently exhibited as part of The National: 2017 at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art. The large scale painting is a personal meditation on the time- honored biblical subject matter of mother and child, featuring the artist’s recurrent motifs of the egg, and the AC/DC charms suspended from tree branches.
The Nell scarf is digitally printed on a luxuriously soft cashmere modal and hand-finished. The dimensions are 158 x 110cm.
